There are four basic types of sailing yachts, which include day sailing yachts, weekender yachts, cruiser yachts and racing yachts.

With day sailing yachts, they are predominantly designed for hourly or daily use. As such, they do not have a cabin aboard. Weekender yachts are small vessels, about 30 feet across and have the ability to operate in shallow water. Complete with a single small cabin, they generally tend to be smaller and as such can be overwhelmed by strong seas.

Cruiser YachtYacht charter becomes more complicated with cruiser yachts, which are very common private-use vessels. They are much more expensive to own and operate, and are typically more luxurious. Finally, with racing yachts the speed and size of these vessels vary greatly. Up to 15 people can crew these yachts, and ocean racing yachts are built to handle even the most inclement weather on the seas.
